The Grade School community came together for its second General Assembly, which proved to be a resounding success. The event highlighted the Student Council’s proactive efforts in creating a safe and supportive environment for all pupils, with a special focus on the launch of iCare, the Grade School’s new Anti-Bullying Program, facilitated by the Wellness and Testing Center.
The iCare program aims to raise awareness about bullying and equip pupils with the tools to create a positive, respectful school community. This initiative marks a significant step in the school’s commitment to promoting kindness and respect among students, setting the tone for a year centered on unity and inclusion.
The assembly featured a variety of meaningful contributions from school leaders. The Headmaster delivered a short but impactful talk, stressing the importance of unity within the school. He also introduced the concept of SIGMA—Service, Integrity, Generosity, Modesty, and Awareness—qualities that every Atenean should strive to embody. The Chaplain followed with an inspiring message on the Ignatian value of Magis, encouraging students to strive for excellence while serving others. The Assistant Headmaster for Formation provided an in-depth overview of the iCare program, sharing its goals and the role it will play in shaping the school’s environment.
Additionally, the Office of Student Activities took the opportunity to present essential reminders and recognize the achievements of outstanding pupils. The recognition not only celebrated the hard work and dedication of the pupils but also highlighted the school’s continuous effort to honor academic and personal growth.
As a Grade School teacher, witnessing the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the pupils and the Student Council was heartening. The event truly embodied the spirit of Magis—the pursuit of excellence in all things—and set a positive tone for the remainder of the school year. With initiatives like iCare and the active involvement of our student leaders, I am confident that we will continue to foster an environment where every pupil feels valued, supported, and empowered to make a positive impact in their school community.
