The Student Athletes’ General Assembly (SAGA) at Ateneo de Davao University Grade School took place on Friday afternoon, 8 November 2024, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM, bringing together student-athletes, coaches, and faculty members from the formation cluster for an inspiring session centered on leadership, teamwork, and commitment.
The event began with the preliminaries featuring an Opening Prayer and the National Anthem, setting a respectful and unified atmosphere for the afternoon’s proceedings. Dr. Annierose V. Villarba, Headmaster of Ateneo Grade School, delivered a warm welcome message.
The session then moved to the event’s highlight, a talk on “Leadership, Teamwork & Commitment of Blue Knights” by Mrs. Xenia G. Gonzaga, Assistant Headmaster for Formation. She engaged the student-athletes in a dynamic discussion about how these essential qualities are not only in sports but in all aspects of life.
Following the talk, the attendees participated in small group discussions. This session allowed pupils to exchange thoughts on better embodying leadership, teamwork, and commitment in their athletic endeavors and beyond.
The event culminated in a solemn commissioning ceremony where the student-athletes pledged their commitment to uphold the values they discussed throughout the afternoon.
The SAGA event was a resounding success, offering the pupil-athletes an opportunity to reflect on their roles, build connections with their peers, and renew their commitment to excellence in sports and life.
