Davao City, 14 November 2024 – The Ateneo de Davao Grade School community came together in a meaningful Fiesta Mass celebration to honor their patron saint, St. Stanislaus Kostka, the patron saint of the youth, young students, and seminarians.

The Mass, held in the Fr. Martinez Sports Complex (MSC), highlighted the inspiring life of St. Stanislaus Kostka, a Polish nobleman and Jesuit novice known for his unwavering faith and dedication to God’s call. His story reminded the community of the greater purpose to which God calls each of them.

Fr. Patrick Dominador Z. Falguera, S.J., the school’s Chaplain, and Fr. Eric Anthony Escandor, S.J., presided over the Mass. They emphasized the virtues of perseverance, humility, and trust in God, exemplified by St. Stanislaus, encouraging pupils, teachers, and families to reflect on their journeys of faith.

The celebration also included the commissioning and blessing of new acolytes, symbolizing their commitment to serve at the altar of the Lord. Fr. Falguera led the special rites. The Holy Eucharist included the procession of little St. Kostkas, a group of dressed-up pupils from different grade levels, symbolizing the youth’s devotion and connection to their patron saint. The newly commissioned acolytes stood proud as they received the blessing, marking an important milestone in their spiritual journey and service to the community.

Additionally, the Mass included the blessing of pupil-athletes who will represent Ateneo de Davao Grade School in the upcoming Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) Sportsfest.

The Mass was sponsored by the Grade 3 community and the class of Grade 6 St. Stanislaus Kostka, who participated actively in the liturgy. Their heartfelt contributions, from preparing the offertory to proclaiming the readings, added a personal and reflective touch to the occasion.

The Eucharistic celebration, enriched by the commissioning of acolytes and the blessing of the DACS players, deepened the community’s spiritual connection and commitment to their shared mission.

The Mass concluded with a spirited rendition of the recessional hymn, marking a joyful end to a meaningful celebration of faith and service. This event was a powerful reminder of the Ateneo Grade School community’s dedication to living out their faith with purpose and conviction.
