10 January 2025, Fr. Martinez Sports Complex – The Ateneo Grade School community gathered for the first time this new year with a general assembly celebrating achievements, promoting core values, and sharing important announcements. The event, organized by the Office of Student Activities (OSA), ran from 7:40 to 9:30 AM and brought together students, teachers, and staff.
The program began with a settling-down period facilitated by the OSA, followed by the preliminaries led by the Student Council. Headmaster Ms. Annierose V. Villarba, Ed.D, shared inspiring words to guide pupils for the months ahead to live with purpose, passion, and a spirit of service. She encouraged everyone to “Be Present” by focusing on the current moment, to “Be Positive” by finding the good in each day, and to “Make Friends” by connecting with classmates. Ms. Villarba also urged pupils to “Participate” actively in class activities, explore their passions, and always strive to “Be Persons for Others.” This was followed by a reflection from Grade School Chaplain Fr. Patrick Dominador Falguera, SJ, who introduced the Value of the Month: “Men and Women for Others.” Fr. Falguera emphasized the importance of generosity, service, and compassion in everyday life.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of students who excelled in academics, sports, and other school activities. Celebrating their achievements inspired their peers to strive for success in their endeavors. The Prefect of Discipline then reminded students of the importance of proper conduct while the OSA shared announcements about upcoming activities and initiatives.
The assembly concluded with the Student Council leading the community in singing the Blue Knight Song, symbolizing unity and pride in being Ateneans. The event served as a meaningful start to 2025, reminding students to live out the values of excellence, service, and community as they continue their journey at Ateneo Grade School.
