The Story of Davao, The Story of the Philippines

The Ateneo de Davao Grade School community celebrated Araling Panlipunan Week 2026 with the theme “Lakbay Kasaysayan: Ang Kuwento ng Davao, Ang Kuwento ng Pilipinas,” taking our learners on a meaningful journey through the history, culture, geography, and identity of the Filipino people.

Through interactive activities and engaging exhibits, pupils connected classroom learning with real-life experiences. They explored topics ranging from community building and the history of Davao to its geographical resources, historical sources, and the lives and contributions of Filipino heroes.

A highlight of the celebration was the Kadayawan Festival, which provided a meaningful avenue for learners to discover, appreciate, and celebrate the vibrant culture, traditions, and heritage of Davao. Through this experience, pupils gained a deeper understanding of the diverse communities and cultural practices that contribute to the identity of the city and the nation.

The celebration provided opportunities for pupils to observe, discover, participate, and share, transforming learning into an experience that was both engaging and meaningful. More importantly, it strengthened the spirit of Makabansa, encouraging learners to know and appreciate their roots, value their cultural heritage, and develop a deeper sense of responsibility toward their community.

Through Araling Panlipunan, our young Blue Knights are reminded that understanding the past helps us better appreciate the present and become more responsible citizens who can help shape the future.

From the story of Davao to the story of the Philippines, every journey begins with knowing where we came from.
